This series takes root from my childhood memories as well as my photography works around architecture and explorations on the concept of identity. When my brother and I were kids, we enjoyed many road trips during which our parents would invent games in which they also would participate. During all these trips, we would locate places we see on maps, and eventually became map experts. This memory brought me the idea of a project where I would use letters and figures found in these plans to locate within an urban space as an instance. I matched each letter in a word with a number chosen according to the position of the letter in the word.
In this project you will find three cards, three identities. The first is the map of Ankara, my hometown; the second is Lyon, the city where I grew up; and the last is Barcelona, the city where I live now.
Cette serie trouve son origine dans mes souvenirs d'enfance ainsi que mes travaux photographique sur l'architecture et l'exploration de la notion d'identité. Quand mon frère et moi étions enfants, on faisait énormément de voyages en voiture pendant lesquels nos parents inventaient des jeux auxquels ils participaient. Ces voyages nous permettaient de nous repérer sur des cartes et des plans et nous étions devenus des experts. Ce souvenir m'a ainsi donné l'idée d'un projet qui utiliserait les lettres et les chiffres que l'on retrouve dans ces plans pour se repérer dans l'espace d'une ville par exemple. J'ai fait correspondre chaque lettre d’un mot à un chiffre choisi selon la position de la lettre dans le mot.
Dans ce projet vous trouverez trois cartes, trois identités. La première est la carte d'Ankara, ma ville natale, la seconde est celle de Lyon, la ville où j'ai grandi, et la dernière est Barcelone, la ville où je vis actuellement.
